I had a doctor's appointment today....still dealing with the blood pressure issue. It's too high....It's too low. Well, I've been dragging the past 2 weeks ( even more than I normally should considering how busy things are) and now the blood pressure is too low again. So, I'm off blood pressure meds AGAIN....which should be a good thing....unless it starts to go up. I am SO blessed to have my family doctor.....who really seems like part of the family. I tease him and tell him I keep forgetting if he is really my doctor or if he is my big brother. At any rate, I trust him and we will just keep on keeping on. Other than the blood pressure......everything else is on an even keel right now.
Moving on to more fun stuff. Several months ago, I blogged about getting new tables in my classroom. They arrived a month or so ago and so now I can show off my classroom. Please excuse the messiness. We had a birthday party AND carved a pumpkin....all in one day.
Please come in!
Obviously, we have a "Clifford" theme. The red table is the Clifford table. The yellow table is T-bone's table and the blue table is Mac's table. We travel from table to table for different activities.
By now, you know my "love affair" with dogs but that is not the real reason for the Clifford theme. My father ( who passed away in 1999) was the light of my life. He ALWAYS wanted me to be a teacher. He believed that being a teacher was the MOST important profession. He was unable to complete his high school education because he grew up during the time of the Great Depression but he was determined that I would have every opportunity when it came to education. He taught me to read by the time I was 4. He talked to me EVERY day after school to see "how things went in class today." He was my encourager, my friend, my rock, my daddy......and his name was Clifford. And so....my class theme is in honor of my father.....whose spirit will live on in a classroom as long as I am teaching.
See the different colored dogs on the board? Those are made from paper plates. We put laminated "bones" in them every time that a student does a good job and "sadly" we take them away if they are doing "a not so good" job. The kids love it! If you have even one bone at the end of the day, you go to the treasure box. And on Fridays, you go to the BIG treasure box...which has bigger toys. Needless to say......bones are important.
See the fall tree? Leaves are the handprints of the students.
See the black cats? Made by the students with the assistance of the BEST parapro ever...(and my friend) Ms. Hunter (better known as Mater to the students).
See the big pumpkin? Purchased by "The Rev" for my class and no he wasn't there to help carve it. I carved and the kids dug out the "yucky" stuff.
See Jane run? See Spot run? Just kidding.....I seemed to be on a roll with the See stuff there............
And so........from my class to you.......Happy Halloween!
Blessings!
Cindy
PS..........Janice Woods......I miss you! My classroom is not the same without your visits and school is not the same without you. I got your e-mail and I will get back to you when things settle down a little. Love you bunches!
Your classroom is awesome!!! It is so obvious that you love being a teacher and you care for those children. They are so blessed to have you in their life.
Your Dad sounds like he was a fantastic father and it is so sweet that you are honoring his memory and his dedication to your education by bringing him into the classroom. I don't think I have told you that my daughter, who will be 30 in April, started college last year to become a teacher. She is passing with flying colors. I am so proud of her. She is going to be an elementary teacher and I know she will be so good with children.
So good to see you blogging again. Take care and keep that blood pressure under control.
Love you!
Colleen
